R3 Vacation Edition: See You In July!
I’ll be taking a break from R3 for a few weeks, but here are some resources of interest in the meantime.
I’ll be taking a break from R3 for travel and relaxation, something I hope that you’ll be able to work into your own summer plans as well. For those of us in traditional academic jobs, it’s getting close to the midpoint of summer. If you are like me, this season can easily turn into a tug-of-war between conflicting aspirations, compounded by a stress-inducing feeling that the time is flying by.
If you find yourself falling into a familiar summer pattern of overcommitment, burnout, and guilt, take a look at one of Robert Talbert’s latest Substack posts, How Not To Waste the Summer. Robert, as always, offers a thoughtful, no-nonsense set of insights, and I appreciate how he offers up his own summer routine as an example of balancing professional progress and personal restoration.
In the next issue, I’ll be taking a look at a new article on ChatGPT; it focuses on a study of major themes and concerns about the technology, especially among early adopters who work in education. That research team is also currently conducting a survey on AI and teaching. I’ve filled it out myself, and you might want to as well: https://ust.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8iv4zvudQ1hUDB4
Here's to making the most of the summer season, and thank you for your support of R3 through this first half of 2023! – Michelle Miller
Thanks for the signal boost Michelle!
